I am back!
For the last six months, I was in freezing Edmonton, Canada, with overseas grandma duties -- helping my daughter and son-in-law with her son and new baby girl. It was fun. But I miss home and miss doing the things I want, rather than doing the things I have to. For a start, I went for an hour of Pilates yesterday and met for lunch with a long-time friend whom I have not seen since before COVID. She has been busy with overseas grandma duties too -- hers in Australia.
Open to work
It's been a year since I embarked on this tech editing journey. I was reminded of this by the invoice email from my website builder. I figure that I can enjoy tech editing with one job a week. To get back into the swing of work, I will continue with charging the same flat rate for the next one year before assessing my charges. (See Services) Please contact me.
Colourwork
While I was in Canada, I participated in a mystery-knit-along with my daughter and made a new sweater (see last post). This colourwork sweater was in two colours and knitted using fingering weight yarn. On the whole, the pattern was well written and easy to understand, although I couldn't help thinking what could be written differently if I was the tech-editor. Occupational hazard, I guess. As always, it was fun learning new techniques.
On my needles

I've started a new project -- the Iola cardigan designed by Kate Davis with Ula+Lia sheep wool and cashmere blend in Natural Walnut. Iola is a raglan sweater with a lot of twists -- simple but effective textured technique. I'm making it for a friend who spends her winters running a B&B in a ski resort in Japan.
Thanks for coming by.
I hope to hear from you soon.
